I started off with a $45 pack from DragonCon that included the Aurora LN but ive since upgraded to the Avenger Titan.  Its a great all around ship. I think we have plenty of ships within the community where we will need some crews to help run some of the ships

If you're on TS I'd be down to discuss how to get you set up.

The package I got no longer exists but you can get the standard Aurora package for $45 it just not include squadron 42

I would go with one of the basic Ship packages and try it out. You can always upgrade your original package to something more of your liking. I personally like the Heavy Ships "Tank" so I went with the Warden . I did go with the Carrack which is a Exploration Ship. So I'll be doing a but of both PvP, and PvE cruisin around. Mix of both worlds.

For starting off especially from a price and future upgrade perspective I would recommend the CNOU Mustang series.  Beyond that... if you end up at an AEGS Avenger you're pretty much set for well rounded options.  This is of course, assuming you are spending the minimum or close to minimum to purchase the game -- which again, I recommend until you're more versed in the verse or have the means or desire to.  Most folks have big ol ships and we'll need crew once the game gets going.

@Sonny160 hey mate, SC is by far the best space sim i have ever played, however you have to bare in mind that it is still in very early stages. I've found that the game is very good in burst sessions, i couldn't play it in its state for weeks on end.

SC is very much you make your own experience, when i started i wanted to be kind onf a merc kind of player. After a while the beacons (missions) become very repeative, well the combat ones did anyway. I raised enough money to rent a ship for some cargo runs and it was fun. I personally at this moment wouldn't buy anything but a starter ship as you can rent ships with in game currency, plus with regular wipes it gives you something to aim for.

Multicrew is active but i haven't tried it as I can't find or seen like you said in TS.

Like i said at the start I played it for a month or so and when I first got it I wanted to see what what all the hype was about. For me it has alot of potential, but if I'm honest I think SC is to ambitious for its own good. I'm not playing it at the min but I might check it out in the next big update or two.

I would just suggest if you have some spare cash buy a starter ship and give it a look it might be worth it in the future,

hope this helps mate 😁

Agreed there, I do tend to get into modes where it's all I want to play but it's been few and far between. I'm hoping UWS starts participating in the CCC tournaments again soon so I have an excuse/reason to log in.

I personally would get a starter pack. I prefer the mustang over the Aurora.

I will let you fly any of the ships I have any time you want and I can get online. I sure there are others that would let you test their ships. Then I would upgrade the starter pack or purchase new ships from there. You can also rent ships in game with credits last I knew.

Welcome to the party! There are quite literally TONS of different packages you can start off with that will help you try features out whilst we wait for Beta to come around. The trick is figuring out what type of game play you're going to prefer and how much money you're willing to invest early on. Personally, I typically recommend purchasing the $45 starting pack if they've still not at least tried the game or watched a lot of content. However, if someone has the funds and rather enjoys the available content on youtube, I typically suggest starting off with the Avenger Titan package. The package is $65, comes with the the basic SC digital download, 6 month insurance, 1k UEC and of course the Avenger Titan itself. The ship is highly multi-role, cheap to fly/repair and can run almost any mission given it has an actual cargo hold (albeit somewhat small). It has a fair amount of firepower despite its self and I've done tons of missions with this ship.

That said, it never hurts to start off with any $45 package and try out ships. Each November they run an anniversary sale and during the event each ship goes on sale, though some are in limited quanities. By this time, if you've played with others, you should have a good idea of what you like I highly recommend holding off until the sale. The trick is to get the best package as possible, and that means at least 2+ year insurance (ideally lifetime). Normally, lifetime insurance packages are only available when a NEW ship is introduced and you get it during concept or right when its released. Even if its a cheap ship, I recommend doing this as you can upgrade the package's ship, but retain its contents (e.g the insurance) with the new ship.

I have a few ships including the Polaris (not flyable currently), Andromeda and Vanguard Warden. Feel free to hit me up on Discord jbox88#3866 or teamspeak. I use both the UWS Discord and Teamspeak. I can also help with any questions via voicechat if its easier as others have also mentioned! Again, welcome to the party!
